I don't think you can submit your site internationally to the Yellow Pages. My advice is don't bother with the online one - anyone ever had any referrals, like ever. A recent client insisted on being in the UK version. They had 0 leads from Yellow Pages, 0 hits. They got more traffic this month from a Mexican search engine powered by Lycos than from the Yellow Pages.

Another that you might like to avoid, despite their very attractive marketing and advertising is Scoot. It's about as useful as a wet haddock for driving nails into a brick wall.

I'm amazed they are still around actually.

Hi Farhan,

I can't tell you much about most online yellowpages but I can offer this:

The yellowpages in my local area offer a package deal for around $16.95/month which gets you a basic plain listing (Business name, address, PH#) in the offline YP plus a basic online YP listing (one page, business name, address, PH# and a map to your location if you wish).

Though I don't have any solid evidence to support it I will agree with markymark (for the same reasons) and recommend that you not pay to have any listings in online yellowpages. Of course, if you can get any free online YP listings, then by all means go for it.

I do however highly recommend a listing in your local offline yellowpages. I have gotten much business in this manner, though it's all been local, but hey, business is business. As to price, it will vary depending on what type of listing you get and that should depend on how steep the competition is in your area.

Another item worth mentioning is that there are, at least in my area, both a consumer and B2B version of the YP. Depending on your business model, you may wish to advertise in both.

Also, in my locality, there are two phone companies, each serving areas I wanted to advertise in, so I took out ads in both. One serves a larger area so I get more business from it, but percentage-wise they are about even.

I'll also add that I live in a large metropolitan area and that if you're in a more rural area, advertising in the local YP may not be worth the cost. But then again, if you're the only game in town, it might be worth it.

Hope this helps,

Farhan

Nice link and info! Do you receive visitors from your listing in this? If so, maybe that is the answer?
