Is there anything to be gained from asking the robot to visit more regularly by setting the number to 10 for example

I have a feeling most search engines ignore the revisit tag, but it doesn't hurt to include it. IMO you should only need your site respidered very 2-4 weeks, unless you add a significant amount of new content more often.
