I loaded the new version of Netscape 6.1 browser this morning. To my surprise, when clicking on the search button on the tool bar the default search was from Looksmart!
Anyone have a clue as to why this would be? Why not Netscape or why not AOL?

Now I see. The page you go to when clicking the search button is here:
http://home.netscape.com/escapes/search/ntsrchrnd-D.html
Notice the search engines to the left. Everytime the page is loaded, a different engine is being pointed to.

I loaded NS 6.0 shortly after it's release, and even less shortly I uninstalled it!~ It was buggy at best!~
I do have NS 4.75 loaded and use it primarily for checking how pages are displayed in Netscape.

I have to admit JH, the new version 6.1 is impressive. The more I get use to it, the more I like it. MS might be gone for me now.

I'm in the same boat as Junior. That last version was sooooooo bad. I'm kinda scared to try 6.1 but maybe I will. I even have a free CD of it from the conference last month. Maybe I'll give it a shot. I am a 4.7 user too. And I hate the thought of using IE even though the rest of my family uses it. Especially with all the holes with regards to the scumware.
Maybe this weekend I'll try it.

Yes, that last version really has me gun shy...also the older version allows me to ensure pages are backward compatible. This allows me to continue to upgrade my primary browser (IE) and yet maintain an older (NS) version as well. I started out using Netscape, before M$ bought Mosaic and turned it into IE. I really like Netscape, and hopefully in the future I'll have the time to test the new version (once again).
