Foreign Lang SE's and Dir's

Hi,

I'm currently faced with the task of submitting a multilingual site to search engines in a variety of languages and whilst I can muddle through the language translation required to fill the forms in correctly I would appreciate any pointers on the most applicable/quality Search Engines and Directories for those languages.

So anyone got any pointers for a "School of English Language" site with:
- Spanish
- German
- Italian
- Portuguese
- French
- Japanese (not my area to tackle thank the {deity} but still interested)

If anyone knows of any good English lists to get onto that would compliment the type of site that'd be a big help too.
