Description vs keywords

I mad a complete **** up of my meta tags the other day on my main site and the removed the actual description and the metatag =content bits so that the description was the keywords. The day this was up was the day Altavista spidered my site and put it upto number four on my main keywords! So good came of it. Interestingly I was respidered yesterday with the mistake corrected and am still at number four which tends to suggest that those two meta tags don't go far on an AV index.

You are right. The tags are becoming less and less important to the engines all the time. The title is very important.

Unless using the paid to index program, remember, just because the spider read the pages does not imply the index has been updated too. We have had several recent crawls by AV, but have yet to notice any update to the index. :eek:

Because we had such bad positions on Av we paid!
and the line description has changed.

Interesting then...so are the pages being updated every two days? And have you had any problems with having consistent updates?

sorry by "other day" i meant last week sometime, the paid for update got our ratings up and seems to be keeping them there.
