You think they annoy you? I've got to see the stupid things everytime I work on the site. :P But something has to pay the bills, eh?

Thanks for the plug Robert...it will take some time to build it back up...it's been pretty much dead for going on six months. Now I've got a blank slate and a zillion ideas and no where near enough time to get all the articles and content written.

Appreciate any feedback from folks who check it out. Still working on the SEO 101 guide, submission, link pop, ppc, etc... so please be patient with me.

I'm curious though - Do you *really* make revenue from those pop-ups? I mean, I know your advertisers have to pay About.com in order to get their pop-ups ... well... popping up. But do visitors actually click on them? Do users actually BUY after clicking on them? Any clicking I've done on a pop-up banner has been entirely by accident as I attempt to CLOSE the darned thing. ;)

I pretty much stopped using About.com because of it. Though the length of time between new articles appearing on the site was part of that too - and I'm sure your taking over there and jumpstarting things again will help solve THAT part.

We place ads on about.com using Sprinks. And I must say that despite our apprehensions and the bad press Sprinks was getting, we've been getting more than a reasonable amount of conversions from the ContentSprinks placements. Also as our per sale value is high, this makes the investment in Sprinks very worthwhile for us. And I see those clicks keep coming in...so they definitely do make a fair amount of revenue from those ads!

I hate the pop-ups too. I use AnalogX's POW! to close them. So in my favorite sections of About, I just don't see those anymore. I see the same links on the featured sponsors pop-up at the bottom of the page, too. So sometimes I wonder why they don't just do away with the pop-ups...

I hadn't used About much until a couple of weeks ago. There are some nice articles written in there and some good links. Keep up the good work over there. Let me know if you ever need anything.
