Anybody know what the closest Mac version to Netscape 4.04 would be? Choices for Macs seem to be 4.03 or 4.05 in the browser archive on N.

Hello glengara,

Here is some info that should help you.

Netscape 4.04 is stable on the PC side, and this seems to be true also on the MAC side.

Netscape Communicator 4.04 Netscape is now FREE! Navigator stand-alone 4.04 is also available. Navigator 4.04 seems to be faster and use less memory than Netscape 3.04, BUT Navigator 4.04 does NOT include email or an newsreader. Download from Netscape's FTP site: Communicator and Navigator 4.04

On the Macintosh, both Netscape 4.04 and Internet Explorer 4.0 have serious bugs. Netscape/Mac hangs if you try to upload files that are too large (perhaps 70K), and only uploads the data portion of any file.

Thanks guys, I'm looking for a Mac version that would most closely correspond to the PC 4.04 from the point of view of seeing what the Y! people use(allegedly): so I was wondering whether to go for 4.05, or something below 4.04.
