Hello alex2020, adn welcome to the forums. :hi:
Interesting site. My wife (who was born in the Slovak Republic, and has her name day on August 11) takes a great amount of pride in celebrating her name day. I, on the other hand, as an American am totally without opinon concerning name day...until now. The concept is good, and fairly interesting to somebody such as myself (who is always asked what my name day is whenever I visit the inlaws back in Slovakia). Although, I'm not sure that I would ever spend $10 for a nameday calendar (I'm sure that some people would though).
How did you determine what names should go with what days?
Anyway, regarding your site review itself,
* there is no DOCTYPE, and therefore the pages don't validate.
* The design is pretty straight forward, and not bad to look at.
* The images of the calendar pages are nice to have.
Best of luck with your site. Are you from the US yourself, or Europe?

Hi,
Thank you for your help and say hello to your wife Zuzana.
This is really interesting, because my wife’s name is Zuzana also.
I am sure they will appreciate to have little chat, so if it is possible
Please, e-mail me your phone number from my site.
Yes, we are both from Slovakia.
We determined the Name Day this way:
1. History of the United States and Canada
2. US Census
3. Saint’s Days
4. Related Names
We describe all of this on About Us page, but it looks like you missed it.
It took us eight month to finish the calendar.
I am quite new to web design so I am not familiar with DOCTYPE.
Please, can you let me know what you recommend?
As far as the price for the Calendar with Names goes,
we determined it by looking at the price of other calendars on the market.
Their price is between $10.99 up to 14.99
For this price you get picture on the top and empty windows, where you can
write your notes. Did you see calendar like this in the middle of the month?
They look more than notebook than a calendar. We sell ours for only $9.95
We offer our customers not only nice design but also the opportunity to celebrate the Name Day. I am just surprised you’ve not started celebrating yet. :)
One more time thanks.

You did a real nice job on the site. The colors are good too, navigation works, and is easy to follow.
The idea behind it is pretty good too. Have you maybe considered to "personalize" the calendars even one step further by allowing the customer to submit the photo of a loved one to use as the graphic for the month of either their name day month or their actual birth month?
You have quite a few more options open to you with the idea you have, and it would be worth pursuing a little further. You have something unique and original.
Wish you much success with it! :)

<<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
This is the code you should have at the top of each page Alex so that it will validate. (or should I call you Ladislav?)
Like your bright cheerful page - good colour combination though maybe just a bit too much red for my taste.
Anyway a big welcome to the forums

I can understand why you want to get us to the order page ;-) but I think you may be overdoing it!
For example, on page /calendar.html *Here are just a few of our new landscapes in the 2003 Calendar With Names:* I was expecting to see a selection of landscapes, and on the calendar graphic I think you should have a link to "magnify" rather than to the order page.
Maybe link to the order page from the magnified graphic page.
Lastly, your top of the page graphic looks overly red (IMO) on a Mac.

Hi alex2020,
I think your site looks great! It is very cheerful.
I agree with glengara about the "people" graphic being too red, as well as about stuffing the order links down our throats. Aside from the page glengara mentioned, do you really need to buttons for each product on the /2003-calendar.html page?
Is there a reason you have the two links pages open in new windows (Name Day Related & Other Sites)? And on that same page, where did all your navigation go? I only had the choice to click on the "home" & "order" links, or use my back button (no biggie, really, but IMO consistency in navigation is best).
I would like to see a "history of Name Day" page since I know nothing about it. You piqued my curiosity, but left me only the choice to go to someone elses site to find any info. Develop as much information on your site as possible, to keep their interest and make that sale.
More presents? I like more presents.....
Great job!

Thank you to all of you. I really appreciate your help and I will
follow your suggestions.
Ladislav
nickname - Alex
I use this nickname because it is hard for some people to pronounce my first name.
BTW my name is not in the calendar.
It can be included only if it is in the US Census.
So my friends - who wants to name his son Ladislav? This boy's name is used in Slovakia and Czech republic. Its source is volod slav, a Slavic phrase meaning "to rule with glory".
Help me to get it in the Census. :)
Pleeeease.
Just kidding.

Hi you guys,
I am fairly new to this. Could someone explain me what is this doc type and validating thing. What does it do and what is it good for.
Thanks

Hi verlaat1 :hi: and welcome to the forums!
Essentially, doctype tells the browser what version of HTML you are using.
Here's (http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/global.html#h-7.2) more info.
And the organization that defines the specefications is here (http://www.w3.org/) (the W3C).
Validating is verifying that the code (HTML, CSS, etc.) is "legal", or up to the standards of, the W3C.
It is a great way to ensure that your code will render correctly in up-to-date browsers, and can ensure that your pages can be "seen" by those with disabilities.
I highly recommend that you validate your code (http://validator.w3.org/).
