The dance

I have an inkling that the dance is about the search engines indexing your site. But where do you go to find out this information?

From what I can glean in the past week, is that "The Dance" refers to the Google Dance. Once a month (sounds like near the end of the month).. Google stops refreshing sites on www.google.com and within a couple of days, the dance begins. This will end with different search positions based on your new page rank and content for specific search terms.

Since this is my first month watching.. I am curious on when it will start .. it is the 31st!

Apperantly you can here follow the google dance. Or get an email when it has started. I have heard pople who use it like it. Personally I like to stick with Google's info myself. But you might be one of those people who likes it!

Oh, and what is the big deal about when the google dance begins anyway? Shouldn't we have our sites ready for this always?

Thanks for your help. The big deal about the dance is that I had never heard about it before. I recently set up a web site, and I'm just learning about how to get it indexed.

The biggest thing about getting your site indexed is having links pointing to it. If you have links pointing to your site from good other sites that are ranked well in Google...you're all set!
