Hi,

I thought I could ask your help with the recommendation of the SE optimization software worth the money it cost. I primarily think of WPG, AddWeb and TD. My second choice may be SitePromoter and Dynamic Submission.
I've tried free downloaded versions of four of the five I mentioned and looked through your poll results and comments of July, but didn't get a definite idea...

There may be some software around that might help you in a small way. But in my opinion nothing will beat simply reading Every post in all of these forums and learning for yourself. Software as you suggest do not keep updated and can be very misleading. All markets are different, all sites are different. The engines change things kind of often. I cannot recommend software of any kind except that which you want to check your ranks.

If I get your point, no software is needed for site promotion with SE except, but rank checkers and, probably, good statistical reporters. All other promotional tools like page submitters, critics, key word & meta tag generators etc. are useless if one (a webmaster) means business... :o:

hey marina, you are right. Remember, this is in my opinion. In almost 5 years I have only used software to do reporting on ranks. No other part is needed or recommended by me.

I would have to second Dougs opinion on this. Most of the software will cause only problems. It doesn't take long to submit your site to the engines. Take the time and do it right. Learn the rules and follow them. You will be happy with the results.

A little bit off-topic ... What is the best way to gain high link popularity? If it is important for SE, shall I plan any special campaign for it, and what are the best methods?

I agree with what the others have said regarding SEO software. WPG and TD are great for checking ranks and getting reports, but there's no substitute for optimizing your site through keyphrase-rich copy with the Titles and Metas to match. You can't get that from any software!

Again, to truly excel with link popularity, it is crucial that your site is well-written and provides tons of useful information. If you do that, other sites will beg you to let THEM link to YOU! Otherwise, you'll have to go search out sites that will hopefully be willing to exchange links with you. The better your content and the usefulness of your site, the more likely other sites will want to link with you.

If you have lots of pages to check a good rank checker is very useful, but other than that you can do it all yourself, and in most cases will have to.

Doug,

Your discussion forum is great, I think. I've been trying to learn about SEs from different forums, but this one I find really unbiased and practical. Thank you, all.
