My friend and I have been working for zenmed.com (a company that sells natural health supplements). We've decided to start up our own affiliate site through ZenMed's affiliate program and plan on marketing it through the free search engines (and the PPC search engines as well). Can you provide us with any tips that would prove helpful with regards to meta tags in general that would help our ranking with the free search engines? The site is almost finished and we want to get it right the first time.
Thanks
Andrew

Tips:

Read all the threads in this forum.
Read the tutorials that a Google search will find.
Read Googles own "Information for Webmasters" pages.

No point in me retyping all that stuff, or cutting and pasting it here.

If your site is simply going to be an affiliate site for other people's products, it may be very difficult to obtain high rankings in the search engines.

You'll need to come up with a way to have lots of your own unique content for it to have a chance of working.

Your Title tags and Meta tags are the least of your worries right now. Think about how you will create original content and build a useful site for people who might also be interested in the products you want to sell.

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply Jill and g1smd

As for content, we have already created our own content for an acne website. It is extremely informational and helpful for acne sufferers as we are very knowledgeable on the subject. We believe in supplying our very own relevant information/helpful and we are in the midst of creating an acne chat forum. Only one of the pages in the website is dedicated to offering treatments, and we offer treatments from other companies as well (only the ones that seem reasonable)
. We have become affiliates of these companies of course. Having said all this, I understand your response and know that mirror sites are a no no. This is why we have chosen to take a different approach to affiliate marketing. Actual helpful, relevant info (of which we spent weeks studying and gathering info before writing it in our own words) and offering a variety of treatments (this way, why leave our site to check out other treatments as they are all on the site). Having said this, I will read up on as much info I can conjure up on the subject and perhaps ask more direct questions on the subject. I’m probing for inside tricks.

Thanks
