Hi Jill, and thank you for your kind words!

Since it's only 5 AM over here, Sharon is still fast asleep, so I'll just say that she is very unhappy with the way her belly is healing. It is going way too slow for her and she still has pain. Yesterday was the two month mark since her surgery.

I hope she doesn't hurt me too badly for saying this, but she is very upset with the fact that her incision which measures over 10 inches in length did not heal as properly as one would expect and now she says (I don't "quite" agree, but nonetheless) it appears as if she has 3 belly buttons. The reason she has the two "holes" is because the staples didn't hold.

She is right, in that they are about the same size as a belly button, but she has been "packing" them and each day they look better and better, and I for one think they will eventually not look like a belly button anymore, and thanks for your concern Jill.

Aww...that's too bad. Well, let her know we're thinking about her, and hope it all gets better soon!

Hi Roy,

The same thing happened with my little boy Aaron when he went through his 2 stomach surgeries for tumors at the ages of 2 weeks and 8.5 weeks of age.

He'll be 7 next month, and it's taken probably all of about 3 years for the belly button to look normal. His scar is still quite obvious as it is about 2 inches wide and stretches the entire width of his stomach from side to side.

It does heal with time and begin to look better. We were advised by my son's Pediatrician to use a cocoa butter moisturizer on the area as it helps the skin with it's elasticity and also minimizes the damage to the skin and helps lessen the scarring.

Best Wishes,
- Deb
