Hi!
If a person has created site and asks me to give a list of keywords which are right for the site.
Is there any tool or website which can help me generate a list of keywords for that particular site.

Typically a web site/page would be created with the keywords already in mind. This would allow the page to be optimized from the start. However, you could use any keyword density analyzer to report the most frequently used words.

Try: Keyword Density Analyzer (http://www.searchengineworld.com/cgi-bin/kwda.cgi)

I'm with Blue, WordTracker, without a doubt!

HI Maniderwalia:

IF you are asking if there is a tool which will analyze an existing site and then report the keywords used, there are several and the one JH has mentioned will do the Job.

BUT if you are asking what keywords an existing site should be optimized for, this is a different kettle of fish altogether.

IMO the very first thing you need to do is to develop a list of keywords that you, the site owner, and anyone else you can think of might use to search for that type of site, then go to Wordtracker and use the tools there to develop a list of keywords.

I find that it is quite easy to develop a list of 100-200 keywords, which Wordtracker will then analyze and develop a report on which ones are actually in popular use, how many hits per day you can expect for a given keyword/phrase and how many competitors there are.

Hi! Everybody
Ok say if I submitted xyzabc.com to search engines few days back and when i typed xyzabc in search bar search engine showed xyzabc.com but this will not bring me traffic so my question is how to find the keywords for which my site has been ranked.

hi manderwalia

Well.... in the first place the keywords or phrases that your site is to be ranked on should have been your first priority when building your site, and thus you should have followed the advice above to get your pages properly optimized.

I know of no software that will "discover" your keywords for you, but the link that JH gave you will tell you what is on the pages and that is all the search engines can rank you on. You can then do a manual search on these keywords and phrases or use a soft ware such as Webposition ****, Top Dog or Agent Web ranking to find your ranking on these keywords.

In order to get traffic from search engines you need to optimize your site for keywords that sufficient numbers of surfers are using daily in their searches. It does you no good to be ranked highly for a keyword such as "blue widgets" when surfers are only searching for "green widgies".

Another tool I sometimes use when looking for keywords is the goto (should that be overture?) suggestion tool.

Not sure how long this link will be active (and I personally prefer wordtracker) you can find it at: http://inventory.goto.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

Maninderwalia, see mel and jh's suggestions to see what words may be turning up in search engines. If you are getting some traffic already then you can also check your logfiles to see how people are coming to your site.

OK, so here is the question....
I am using both Good Keywords (which uses GoTo as a database) and the Wordtracker. I found significant differences in results that i get for certain keywords. The question is on which one can i rely ? And why ?
And is there anyone that succeded to decipher Wordtracker's explanations about the'Count', '24h prediction' and the rest of the mumbo-jumbo they write there?

Straight from the horses mouth, Andy Mindel of wordtracker explains some of the differences here:

Wordtracker is definitely the more correct keyword analysis program. GoTo is waaaay to scewed to go by in my opinion. I would never use it for anything.
