Have you ever wanted to call the spammer to scream at them to stop spamming you and then find out that the phone number and/or address information listed in the domain name registrar is false? If you have, you may be able to get their domain name taken away from them by telling the registrar about the false information. They will usually try to get ahold of the registrant to tell them to update the information so that it is correct. If the spammer doesn't comply, the domain name can be taken away since they are providing false information.
Spammers will either correct the information if they do not want to lose their domains or they will ignor the situation at which time they can have their domains removed. Spammers are notorious for providing false information. After all, they don't want angry receivers of their spam to contact them which helps to ensure that they will not provide accurate information. In return, they can lose their domains for not putting in the right information.
This is one way to fight back if you want to use it. Unfortunately with various registrars, it takes time to use this method as I found out when I did report false information after trying to contact a long-time spammer. OpenSRS said they had to wait 15 days before they could do something.
