How fresh is the info? At the moment I am only interested in up to date naming of the top 9-12 SE and directories.

The information on the site is generally up to date as of August 23, 2001, unless indicated otherwise.

But just to make sure the top four directories are, IMO:

The top pure search engines:

The top PPc engines are:

The top Metacrawlers are:

You might also want to include WiseNut and Teoma. They are both fairly new players, but both show great potential.

I know Wisenut and Teoma are new and all, but what is the traffic like from them? or is it too soon to tell?

It certainly can't hurt to submit to engines while they are new....

I have tracked a trickle of traffic from both engines lately, but it really is too early to tell. Use the WiseNut Submission (http://www.wisenut.com/submitSite.html) for additions to WiseNut and I believe Teoma recommendations are submitted using email...though I do not have the address.
