One of my keywords is:

commercial mortgage broker

when I do a google search this site comes up #1

http://www.commercial-mortgages-quotes.co.uk(page rank 6)

so I go to google toolbar check the backward links this site comes up #1

http://startinbusiness.xbridge.com/main (page rank 6)

I run my mouse over this page trying to find where their link is
to commercial-mortgages-quotes url

quess what ..

I could not find the link at least that I could see

Did I miss something here? are they doing something hidden in backdoor boiler rooms of SEO that gets them #1 on google?

If they are would you say this is at least ethical?

Could a small guy with a content focus ever over take them?

What kind of linking strategies should I think about?

http://startinbusiness.xbridge.com/main has invisible text links at the bottom of the page - a very common cheating method.

http://www.commercial-mortgages-quotes.co.uk - same thing.

I see a lot of sites that are just another "link" in a chain of domains owned by the same individual or group. Their link popularity and PR are artificially high from their incestuous cross-linking. Check the Whois records for several of those backwards link domains and you'll probably find something in common. I sure would like to see some of them get tossed from the indexes. :)

PS - this thread might belong in the Spam forum.

You are in a spam category market with that industry.

I'd report em. Those markets don't know how to do seo without spamming. To them, seo is spam and spam is seo.

Ain't that the truth? I saw an entire 1st page of G results (cheap travel insurance) taken over by page after page of hidden link spam. It's really disgusting.
