I've been doing the SEO work for a small web development company for three years now. I have had some success with no. 1 rankings for several of our sites. I would like to test the waters on my own because the owner of the company doesn't think that he needs to branch out to a larger area for marketing SEO, and I think that I could earn more if I started my own business. My question is, other than marketing my services through my own website, are there any web sites that host bidding for jobs in the SEO arena and how do I search for them?

Here are a couple directories you should look at. SEO Pros does allow visitors to submit RFP's online.

I'm going to launch an "SEO marketplace" later this year (June?) but will only be recruiting participants who are already listed in at least one of those directories, because I don't have the time to do background checks on SEOs.
You can also check into ELance (www.elance.com), where all sorts of work is peddled.

Thanks for your quick response. I've been perusing these forums for several months now. You and the other moderators are doing a great service for the less well informed. Keep up the good work.

Welcome to our little community harpman :hi:. This site: http://www.technical-outsourcing.com/item.php/107 has sprung up in the past couple of weeks that posts projects for tender like web design, search engine marketing etc and asks for bids on them, forum style. I have linked to the single SEO project currently on offer. Just a warning though - this site has started to send out lots of email spam - you might want to sign up under a rarely checked free email account...

I receive about 2 emails per day from that site and your post is the first I have seen it anywhere. I still have not visited the site, but yet I get their spam!
Seems they scrap email addresses off of web sites with their scummy robot.

I would stay far, far away from them. Thanks for the link, though, Kal - I found someone bidding there who still provides submissions to WebCrawler. That's been really hard to get done ever since they stopped actually running a search engine.

Harpman,
You might also like to try semlist.com . I know that there are, um, issues with the quality of this directory, but it is an internet.com property and I get a few enquiries through it.

LOL. yep, since I have not given them any email addresses and they send their spam to two different email addresses I have on my sites, I can only concur they used a robot to scarf them up.
