I'm still new to the forums and hope this is the right place to post.

A friend of mine asked me about encrypting the code to his site -- and if it would effect his rankings. I don't see why he needs to do this, but he is afraid someone is going to steal it.

Any thoughts?

Since most engines ability to index/list a site is based on the underlying source code, then YES it will effect it! Most adversely!

Unless they want to rank high for X393x2wUx293xxc93C329w191lsw39skdfuqk291a.

This of course assumes you are delivering the same page to both user and engine.
