What do you mean by punctuation? Why would you need punctuation in keywords?

sorry, I was refering more to the the use of 2 or 3 word keyphrases in the keyword metatag and how best to seperate them.
On looking at other sites tags in source a variety of methods seem to be in use ie lots of words each one followed by a comma, distinct phrases seperated by commas , no commas and so on - anyone able to elucidate?

Hi,
They don't care how you seperate. In this context a comma or a space are the same to search engines. Just avoid using apostrophes in meta tags. e.g
"keyphrase one, phrase two, word" is the same as:
"keyphrase, one, phrase, two, word" is the same as
"keyphrase one phrase two word" ... etc.
Write it however's easiest to you. Don't worry about it too much, they're not that important in search engine rankings anymore.

Ahh...the age old comma or no comma debate! As Chris said, it doesn't matter. In fact, your Meta keyword tag doesn't really matter much at all these days anyway.
For more info on my opinion of the Meta keyword tag, please read my article at:

Good luck!
