Please ask yourself how misleading that article is? It claims that search engines are towards the bottom. Question for that author; How the heck did the visitor know the url or bookmark the url in the first place? Yep, that's right, through a damn search engine.

Totally misleading to claim visitors will just magically find your site.

Snippet:
"This does not mean search sites or other Web links are now less important, because users still have to initially find a site before they can bookmark it."

Okay, I see they qualify the article with that snippet, but the premise is that the se's are not that important.

A french article just say the inverse (french are controversial these days :D )

The article say that the navigation scheme has changed. the trafic brought by SEs since january 2002 increased from 19 to 28%, like the bookmarks too (from 24 to 36%), while the trafic from links decreased from 57 to 36%.
