We now have a mini directory for business and merchant affiliates. This is a self-contained directory and not open to editor membership. We realized that many small business owners have a need to present their sites and may have trouble getting them listed due to affiliate content. It will also offer our visitors who are shopping of looking for business information more consumer choices. Submissions to this mini directory will be through Speed Pass only. We are hoping that this will increase the chances that only serious business will be listed and will reduce the number of listed sites that disappear after a short time. Any affiliate sites that have been listed in JoeAnt prior to 2/17/03 will be moved to this directory, any new submissions of affiliates to the general directory will be declined.

I'm curious, you stated "Any affiliate sites" ... how do you determine what is an affiliate site (outside of the scope of those sites that are nothing but pure affiliate content)?

I can safely say that we are not talking about sites with "original" content that may be supported by a few affiliate links. We are talking about sites with content solely created to support their affiliate links, in other words, sites built around affiliate links. And, yes, it's easy to tell the difference.

This section will still require the sites to be of quality. A one page ad selling an ebook resale opportunity will not get listed anywhere on Joeant.

We define affiliates as most sites reselling from another site/business, regardless of actually linking with an affiliate ID. Distributor's are also considered affiliates and will be listed in this specialty directory if they meet our basic standards and are not a clone of their affiliate/partner site.

If anyone has doubts about their sites listability, they can join Joeant and ask on our message board. We are usually quick to respond, sometimes all of us at the same time. ;-)
