Honestly I read the free sample, but it offered little value to me. But then again I'm also neck deep into this stuff. I really didn't read anything in there that could not be found in such forums as this....

What caught my eye is the fact that Detlev is recommending it and he is well respected by many.
Of course, the fact that the sites will be profiled in it caught my eye as well. They say that info will be in it that is not on our sites. If that is the case then they would have to call us to get that info. My business is listed so I am very curious in this. Jill's site has already been interviewed so I am interested in her comments.

Yes I did read Detlev's name...but I would not expect a man of his caliber to need such an e-book!~ I'll defer any further judgment until we get more feedback...I just was not impressed by the "sample".

Here's the scoop on the MarketingSherpa Report...
It is not something that tells how to optimize a site. It is simply a review of many "top" SEO companies out there. Therefore, it's not something that most of the forum-mates here would need. It was designed to make it easier for businesses trying to choose an SEO firm to sort out the wheat from the chaff.
Detlev, reviewed the report and edited it, and that is where his recommendations came from.
And Doug, yes, Anthony Muller will be calling you at some point to interview you for the next edition. You will like Anthony. He's a very down to earth guy, much like you are! What you see is what you get with Anthony. What he did for this first report (and I assume for the others) is ask you a bunch of questions that he asks everyone else. Your responses will be printed up in the report. The idea was for Anthony and Marketing Sherpa to give their viewpoints on what to look for in a good SEO firm. What are good, acceptable practices and what are not. Then they ask companies which practices they use. From all that information, you are supposed to be able to figure out who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. However, as I told both Marketing Sherpa and Anthony, I don't feel they made it clear enough in this report. Yes, if you read the entire thing very carefully, you should be able to figure it out. However, I think they need to spell it out better for businesses who don't have a clue!
They've since informed me that for the next edition they will be making it more clear, so that should be good (and Doug, that will make your company shine!).
BTW, the free chapter they're giving out, really doesn't show you what you actually get in the full version. It's a huge report with a lot of info. But again, targeted towards someone looking to hire an SEO firm.

Thanks for the info Jill! Sounds like it could be very interesting. I know they will be marketing this heavily so I am looking forward to giving my 2 cents to Anthony. :) I have absolutely nothing to hide or nothing to be ashamed of so this could be a really good thing, as you say.
