Hello,
I have opened a new web design service. I own serveral sites. Some get picked up by DMOZ the next day, and some never get picked up, and I don't understand why.
I just built a web site for a cleaning company in one day. It took me about 6 hours to build and was immediately picked up by DMOZ in three days.
I built my web design site for a month, and a web site for a group of attorney's that took me two weeks, and neither of them got picked up by DMOZ. DMOZ had looked at both sites immediately on my stats.
I am totally embarassed because the attorney's paid me good money.
How can an attorney not get picked up under Localities/Legal Services/Their Specialty?
I looked at the other sites in my catagories and my site are equal or better that most of them.
I need help. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Lead

Welcome to the forums lead! :hi:
When you say "picked up", I take it to mean you submitted the site and are waiting for it to be added?
If so, sometimes it can take up to 3 months before an editor will review it and add it to the directory. It depends on the editor of the category and how busy they are and how hard they work and often. You simply have to wait awhile.
Be sure to make up a signature file. :)

Another thing to make sure of is that the site doesn't look like another site in the same cat. I know that I will not add sites that look very similar right away. When I have the time to do some research to make sure they are completely different companies, then I will add them.

Hello,
Thanks for your answers and your help. I did see on all three of the web sites I just submitted as being looked at by DMOZ on my web stat programs, but only one got listed.
They were all under Michigan Localities, and all of them were looked at the same week.
The cheap little 3 page web site was the only one to get picked up, and it was two weeks ago.
It is hard to understand why an attorneys business web site would not be picked up compared to a no name one man cleaning service.
All of the categories I submitted said they needed an editor.
thanks,

It's hard to say without looking at the sites in question. Hope's suggestion to make sure the sites do not look like another site already in the same cat. is a good one.

:thebomb:
My advice is to sit back, crack a beer (if of age of course), and wait for the lawyers.
for the other one...hmmmm
