If for no other reason I-Need Hits is worth the money to submit just to get their monthly newsletter, I get a laugh with every new edition.

I mean I love self promotion and all but.... well take a look for yourself-

So how do you get your web site noticed above all others?

Thanks for the chuckle Eric!

And to think this is the Property of Yahoo now. LOL Amazing how some scammy company like Ineedhits can take your money and provide you with NOTHING to show for it and also be a partner of Inktomi. Granted, $2.50 is not much money, but the very fact they even offer such a thing is embarrassing enough. Very bad for image and very bad for whoever owns Inktomi currently.... that be Yahoo now. :)

Am I missing something here?

Isn't this a "conflict of interest"? We know they are a paid inclusion partner. If you pay for your url you are respidered every 48 hours, right? We know your url stays in the index if you pay, right?

So what's the sense of submitting every month anyhoo? Doesn't this conflict their services they provide for Inktomi? What the heck are they doing?

Are they nuts? Insane? Ignorant? or ALL the above?

I would love for Yahoo, Inktomi, or Ineedhits to make a post to defend this spammy service. I would love for someone to tell all of us what good these services do for a client. I would love to hear all the answers directly from the horses mouth as to ALL the benefits this kind of service provides their clients.

Come on one of you three. I know you all view in here so speak out.

OUCH! take a look at them now...

www.ineedhits.com (http://www.ineedhits.com)

The entire page reads...

"THIS PAGE HAS BEEN RE-DIRECTED FOR ABUSE / SPAM VIOLATIONS"

Cleaning up the net one spammer at a time.

What do you mean? It stills shows the same crap from my end. They are spam partners with Inktomi, I guess. Inktomi seems to like these types of companies for whatever damn reason.

The text in my post is the whole page on my end.

I don't see any site at all, even the inter pages are not accessible.

Interesting that you still see it. I wonder if it is being redirected at some middle hop.

JohnC
11-06-2003, 16:15/04:15PM
or possibly the re-direct is at the domain level and the DNS changes have not propagated through to you.

I am in South Florida.

erck121..

I'm on Mpower which is probably leasing from BellSouth.

I am on Bellsouth DSL at home. I am going to check there later tonight.

I'm on a friends network right now, and he's using one of those large city-wide wireless services, and i'm not getting the page. Must be blocked at one of the common hops here in florida.

Oh well, not like I needed to get to the site anyway.

In either case its not a nationwide and hence not a major issue.

A week or so ago, they emailed the owner of my company (she used them a while ago) saying it was time to renew the account.

I wanted to go in and make sure they did not automatically re-charge the credit card since we decided not to renew. Now I can't check the account or even get a phone# to call them.

Not a major issue, but annoying non-the-less. Anyone have the contact info (sans-email)?

Still glad they are gone (at least here), hope the word spreads.

Now I can't check the account or even get a phone# to call them.

Could always pull up Google's cached copy (http://216.239.57.100/search?q=cache:http://www.ineedhits.com/contactus/) of the contact page.

What do you mean Doug? AFAIK ineedshits is a wholly owned Australian company.

I'm seeing the regular ineedhits page here in New Zealand - wish I could see the spam abuse page though, that's priceless. Can someone post a screen grab? :p

There is no content on the page.

<added> Sorry that is the contactus page. The root still shows what Scottie posted.</added>

"ineedhits" is apparently a success story here where i live there's been quite a few articles written up about how huge they have become in our local newspaper's IT Section..
we had a few of their employers seek a SEO job here when we were hiring, quite funny when we showed them the results we obtained on google/yahoo etc for like a 2 word specific furniture term which is rather competitive and they were like what the .. how did you's do that! haha, quite amusing

Could you tell us more about this erroneous block that you have suffered? The reason I ask is that a lot of our members often switch web hosts or switch domain registrars. What is the exact nature of this error and what feedback have you received from your old/new registrar? What is the action you took? Which authority is responsible - the old registrar, the new registrar or the web host?

It will help a lot of us in here in the future should any of them experience the same situation as you.

Hi polarmate,

Our old registrar erroneously blocked our domain without prior notification. We clarified this issue with them, and they agreed unreservedly that the block had been an error on their behalf and unblocked our domain.

At the same time, we initiated a move to a new domain registrar. The old registrar’s unblocking only took effect while the move was already underway, which is why the ‘spam’ message will be visible for some time. The block should have been removed before the domain transfer began.

Hope this clarifies things. We will certainly endeavour to keep you updated on further developments.

Unfortunately, it does not explain the spam message. I am not trying to give you a hard time here so please just bear with me. If your domain was blocked or dropped, there should either have been a 'Page not Found' or DNS error or - as it happens with so many parked domains - re-routed to a registrar.

Are your registrar and your web host the same entity?

ineedhitsgal
12-06-2003, 05:18/05:18AM
Hi polarmate,

As I explained, our old registrar erroneously blocked us. That initial block was based on a complaint about spam which was falsely attributed to us.

The registrar has since agreed unreservedly that the block was an error on their behalf. I assume that this is the origin of the message which is being displayed. You can imagine that we are not pleased about it, to put it mildly!

I will give you an update on the situation tomorrow, bye for now.

Oh and while you're here, can you please explain the benefits of resubmitting sites to search engines on a monthly basis? Just curious - it's something I've wanted to know for a while :).

Thanks for the explaination ineedhitsgal.

I called your tech support before I read this this morning and got basically "there has been a mistake". Not much more.

From what I know about spam reporting (granted I am not very familiar with it) but doesn't it start at the host level, then move it's way up to the Registrar. Wouldn't the abuse report have had to have some meat behind it to make it all the way to the Registrar?

If it was truely a mistake, I appologize for calling you a spammer.

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update: In co-operation with the registrar, we are currently carrying out a full investigation into the spam complaint falsely attributed to us. So far, we only have preliminary results of this investigation. We will hopefully know more by next week.

What a crock! I have investigated I don't know how many of these submission services and this is no different then the rest!
You have to re-submit monthly because many of the engines aren't engines or real directories they are FFAs! Real engines do not need to be re-submitted on a schedule only FFAs require this.

Now the page is just simply down.

Don't people usually get blocked for email spam from their hosting companies?? ahem.

ineedhits.com sent me unsolicated emails for a long time.

is this what the false accusation was pointed towards?
