[Moved from the Google forum. - Jill ]

Hi,

I am on track with my major keywords and title. Any advice you can give on how to use them within my content? I don't want to take away too much from my current content flow but realize I need to have keywords placed in certain frequency within the first paragraph or two.

Appreciate your input:cheers:

I've found it advantageous to start your text with your keyword or keyword phrase if you can. This gives it much more prominence in Googles eyes, and will boost your ratings.

Also, keep in mind that Google often grabs snippets of text surrounding the keyword matches on their results page. This is what potential visitors will review before deciding to click, so using important search phrases within well written sentences could generate a higher click through rate vs. the same terms used in, for example, a bulleted list.

It's not just the first paragraph or two that you need to place your keyword phrases.

Your entire page should be laser-focused on your two or three keyword phrases. The key is focus. Use those phrases at the top, in the middle and at the bottom.

Hope this helps!

Check out the e-book listed in Jill's signature for more details on how to write effective copy for SE's! She just finished it.

I agree with Jill. You have to get your keywords all the way through the copy. Yes, headlines (text in <H1>, <H2> tags, etc.) do hold a little more weight, but the idea is to fill the page with relevant text.

If your site is focused... if your product/service lend itself to the keywords you hope to be found under... this will not be a problem.

I believe the South Carolinians are now a majority! At least from the States.

Hi Karon :hi: nice to see you here.

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your member article about Google AdWords. Especially timely as I just won a rather large AdWords account for a client and I have to create a campaign from scratch over the next week or so :).

Well, finally... some folks that don't mind a copywriter hanging around. I was beginning to wonder if I had the wrong forum! :p

Glad to be hear. Scottie... where are you?

Kal... I'm sure you'll do fine. Google just takes some patience because they are so all might particular!

Karon, you and Scottie will get to meet in Atlanta for my girl's night out! ;) Maybe you guys should get together and drive down together to save on gas. Since it looks like we're getting close to $2 a gallon, it could cost as much as flying! :)

Karon, Scottie lives right down the street from you in Columbia. Who knows, maybe your neighbor? :)

Great! I'm always up for making new friends. Actually, I don't live IN Columbia, either. It's a tiny little town in between Columbia and Florence.

Hi Karon!

You are on the other side of town from me. I'm in Irmo- out near Lake Murray. Are you in Camden?

You probably don't want to ride with me; I'm staying over to catch up with friends in the area for a day. Otherwise, it would be a great idea. :)

Look forward to meeting you~

Hi All,
Just to say, it is important to have keywords scattered nicely throughout the copy for Google, to ensure that no matter what part of the page Google snips from you will see the keyword in the description. You can make it pretty much certain. I find that this equates to mentioning e.g. a two word keyphrase once every twenty words.
Don't think that I'm talking about keyword density directly, I'm just talking about making it virtually certain to get your keyphrase in the snippet.
