Looking for my site

I am trying to locate my site
http://www.subliminal-messages.com

using the keywords "subliminal messages"

It ranks high in other engines Google, Hotbot,
Msn for those terms but I cannot seem to find it
on Alta Vista after ploughing through lots of pages.

(I know that it is in the index - by searching on
some rarer terms)

So my question is:

Is there a quick way to find the position, or to
see more than 20 results on a page or, if its
not ranked highly any clues as to why ?

Harvey...if you click on 'customize settings' in the yellow search box you can display up to 50 results/page at a time as well as change other display features....

as for clues as to why your page isn't ranked as high as others....i would compare your page/site to ones that rank on the first page in relation to keyword density in title and description, keyword frequency and proximity of the pages listed, quality content, link popularity, etc...you get the idea...unless someone has an easier and more efficient way f doing this...(sometimes, when i don't have a lot of time, i'll run these pages thru Web Position ****'s Page Critic and then compare each of the pages....just an idea)

You may also want to check the actual Url of your site as well:

http://www.bizminisites.com/sites/harv01/

They could be picking up that instead. No matter, Alta is not a great source of traffic for anyone anymore so I would not worry about it too much.

It does appear that AV traffic has been steadily falling off...not to mention their spider as well. I see more traffic in our logs from both excite and their spider (Architext Spider) then I do from AltaVista or their wayward spider Scooter!~ And remember Excite filed for bankruptcy!~ :shocked:

Well I stopped looking after 200 pages.

In a random sample of pages near the end the words
"subliminal" or "messages" were nowhere to be seen !!

It's not as if these pages are using cloaking techniques
because they have nothing to do with subliminal messages.

And I have those keywords in the Title, description,
heading, links, alt, etc

And after all that hard work typing in their
special submission code

the only site we have recently got anywhere with in AV was when we used their paid inclusion, and then as if by magic, it got to #2

We get hardly any traffic from it

does it take longer to figure out that crazy 'ransom' note submission code or to actually get listed in AV? ;)
