This looks like the product that used to be called "Livehelper".

If so then technically it is very good. Ability to pass enquiries to other group members and so forth. Ability to call a visitor on your site to offer assistance etc.

I ran it for several months. How much use did it get? Not a jot.

Now, this could be the fact that I didn't market it well enough but it was on every page and quite heavily marketed.

Just seemed a redundant bit of script on each page after a while.

However, all that said, if you have a demand for it then it is a very good product.

I'll echo MazY here in that I used a similar product for about 6+ months and the ONLY request I ever got was from someone that was asking a question that was totally UNrelated to my industry.

I can't however say that this would be the case for you or anyone else. Yours may just be an industry in which a lot of surfers want or need to take advantage of the service.

On another tack, I will say that I have used this type of service from time to time in order to help myself to some technical support from my own ISP with quite good results (much quicker response time than their phone support).

I suppose if you have the budget for it you might want to give it a trial period to determine the ROI.

This thing is way too cool!!!!

Been playing with it now for a few days, it's real cool to watch the people go through your site live...

added benefit I never thought of...I just watched the first spider go through my site live as well. That was kind of wild!

What kind of script did you have to put on your pages? It would be worth it just to be able to tell if spiders are crawling. I do not understand ANY script that could tell if it was a spider.

Please tell me more.

I just went to the site and clicked on the "help" image. It crashed my browser. I use Netscape 6.1 so it looks like they have a problem right now with NS.

Does it still have the ability to "pull" the visitor?

You used to be able to click on the IP number and initiate a contact with them. A java window would pop up on their screen. Very cool but the most problematic aspect of the entire system.

We have been using this service called ClickSeva at http://www.clickseva.com for about a month now. Its cheap, has all the features of LivePerson Corporate and only costs 60 bucks a month. I had downloaded and tried LivePerson; but, there are many limitations there for eg.only one operator can be online at one time and there is no concept of departments. In ClickSeva we have 3 agents online at a time from multiple departments in various branches across the country. They can talk to each other as well as transfer chats. All of it for 60 bucks..so its a good product and since its online, we didnt have to download anything.

Hi amazing and a warm welcome :hi:

I have had Livehelper Pro on our site for a while and although the number of people actually using it to contact you is small (about 1 a week) - the ability to watch people's progress through your site is a really great facility. I wouldn't do without it now - so it is well worth taking the free trial and seeing if it works for you.

The pull/push facility is one of the optional extras on the Pro package and is standard in the Corporate package - we took it as the optional extra. It's a cool feature :thebomb:

Clickseva also has all the push features that livehelper supports. Main hinderance in livehelper is the ability to have only one operator, if you want more, you have to keep paying up. Also they need you to have a particular port, I think 6001 open so that the operator can communicate. The product cannot penetrate the firewall. Also, I have different machines at home and office and since clickseva does not require any softwares to be downloaded, I just log on to their site and I am online.

Welcome amazing!!

The liveperson package does pay for itself in my ability to talk instantly with people in my site, guide them in the correct direction, and just basically get it done.

To answer a couple questions, yes you can push pages to people, you can still initiate a chat with somebody, and makemetop is absolutely correct, it is wonderful to watch the progression through your site of the typical user. We have made many changes to the site because the path we saw a lot of people taking was one we did not want them to take.

with liveperson we pay for license agreements, and I bought three of them. one for me, and two for staff. we can transfer chats to each other, chat with each other, etc...

another cool feature: when somebody is in your site that has been in the site before a special character appears next to their ip address. I click on the history button and I get to see the transcripts of any previous chats, how many times they have been there, what pages they've visited,etc...

I don't know about the other programs, but we have also customized all the buttons, and the chat windows,....I also have the following link at the bottom of all my emails that says.

Sincerely,
Steven L. Crawford
Chat With Me Live Now! (http://www.guardiandibrokerage.com/livechat)

This piece actually generates more sales than the buttons on the site does.

Welcome amazing:hi:

For a year I had one of the free talk live to someone running on my website and all I got was people asking if I was hiring so I took it off, guess it depends on what type of Internet business you're running to be useful.

Steven,

Basically what you are comfortable with matters. If you are okey paying for 3 licenses and then having 2 of your staff members log in and you yourself then I guess you can afford it. 89 bucks for the basic license is expensive. In clickseva, with one license itself costing 60 bucks, I have 4 people who are online, 2 from sales , one supervisor and one from support. Chats are not directly transferred on to the supervisor but, can be redirected to him incase of need by one of the operators.

Also I found the customisation level to be much better in clickseva. It lets you choose the background colour from 256 shades of colour and the logo is placed horizontally rather than vertically. In liveperson, I could not even fit my logo vertically because of the number of characters. Clickseva also allows you to put your own buttons as it uses a simple href link to call the chat.

Liveperson also does not allow you to download conversations and view them in excel or any other spreadsheet, does not allow you to set your working hours of operation; nor does it tell you the country from which the user is logging in from.

We have a different price of our product in our own country and another one for international. Determining the the country of the chatter, it is easier to quote prices.

Clickseva also allows you to view the previous conversations of the chatter just like liveperson. We have also set the timezone of the product for our own country and using that it allows us to view the reports etc. in our time.

While clickseva does not allow us to view the progression of the customer on the site, it tells us the links from where maximum chat traffic is coming from allowing us to change those pages effecively.

Welcome to the forums amazing!

You mentioned that you need to logon to Clickseva's website to activate the service.

I assume that you have to stay logged on to their site to keep the service active?

What do you all think the drawback's or advantages to this approach are as compared to LivePersons (in which you need not logon to their site, 'cause it runs from an app on your own 'puter)?

Oh, I would think that your web site would be at the mercy of the other server at all times. It would seem to me that it is just another server that your pages have to load up, which might make load times slower, etc.

The fact that you cannot see your visitors move throughout the site is a big minus, IMO. That would be the biggest benefit of all, and the reason I would use liveperson if I went looking for this service.

Well truthfully I never faced any problems to have a web page logged in instead of a product. You finally have a window open on your task bar..either its the product or whether its the web page. I use differnet computers at home and office and other machines when I am outside put up at our branch office around the country for a few days. Its easier for me to just open the browser and log on.

About the pull feature, I guess liveperson only has advantage over there cause clickseva has all the features and more for 60 bucks that liveperson is offering for 350. It really dosent make sense to spend 350 for a single operator.

I forgot to answer doug's question. Liveperson being a product also is dependent on their server and collapses. Infact when using it 3-4 months I remember their server going down and the product was not able to communicate. Also liveperson requires the operator to have port 7001 open on their servers. 90% of the proxy servers only allow port 80 open and thus their software will not be able to communicate with their server. ClickSeva has no such limitation. If you can browse a website, you can login.
