How long do Dotster take to release an expired domain name please?

There is a domain name registered by someone else at Dotster. It expired on "07-MAR-03". I have been waiting nearly two weeks for it to become available so that I can buy it, but everytime I enter the URL it still goes to a Dotster page which states:

"This domain has expired
It will be deleted in the next few days. If you are the owner of this domain, you still have a chance to renew it."

What they mean by "It will be deleted in the next few days"? How many days roughly will I have to wait before I can register it? I know some other registrars can take months to release a dot.com.

Is the length of the 'on hold' period dependent on the registrar? If so, does anybody know what Dotsters usually length is please?

I use Dotster - I believe the waiting period is 30 days. (from memory though, so take with a grain of salt)

Thank you for your feedback. 30 days is a lot shorter than most other registrars; hope I manage to snap up the domain name I want :)
