My brother has asked me to look at his web site as he is not being listed on Google after 8 months.
http://www.onetouchsolutions.co.uk/
Any general observations about the site in general would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Actually, the site is indexed by google with a PR of 3. I know nothing about SEO stuff, which might be why he can't find his site with his keywords.
The design looks prefessional but personally, I'd like it better without the flash. Those of us still using a dial up connection (which is still the majority) will loose interest before the info can be loaded.
Not much help, but someone will be able to give you some ideas on why he can't find his site on google.
Do a search for onetouchsolutions and you will see that the site is indexed.

Hi robinantill,
If you type in automated house control systems, you'll see that his site comes up in the 1st position in Google. That phrase is first in his <title> tag.
The site looks great! It has a nice layout, good color scheme, easy navigation, nice graphics.
The text might be small for some readers. And it can't be resized. Not good for usability.
There could probably be more text on the home page.
I would consider hiring a copywriter (more below) or at least a proofreader as there is wording that doesn't quite hit the mark.
As to the copywriter, I would ensure that they have a good knowledge of SEO so that you can work on your keyphrases and rankings.
Codewise, it could be cleaned up a tiny bit.
He has two of these: <style type="text/css"> and only one is needed. As well, that entire CSS could be made external.
As to the products page being done in flash? That would seem to be too important of a section too not allow the SE's to read it. I would convert it into straight HTML, with maybe just a little bit of flash to spice things up.
All-in-all the site looks really nice though. IMO opinion the two most important objectives are to dump the all-flash products page and convert it into separate pages with lots of keyphrase rich text on each product.... and to hire a good copywriter/SEO to work on the text and rankings.

Very nice site!
As Blue noted, the text is a bit small. When you are working with a copywriter I would also suggest adding headings on the home page- people tend to "skim" when reading on the net instead of reading and bold headings make it easy to find the benefit/information the user wants. You can use CSS to keep the headings in proportion to the text.
Headings are also a great place to use your keywords, where they make sense.

Hi,
Thank you all very much for your opinions and advice. It all sounds very good and logical to me. My brother will be meeting with his web site people later this week, so will be able to find out why they believe 'flash' is right and why the content for his products is 'flash' as well. To me, after spending many months on this forum I can't believe that he has spent £9,000 on this site and £300 per month for a site which is not very search engine friendly.
I would appreciate some feedback as to the amount charged - was it reasonable?
Best regards,
Robin Antill.
