free entry in goto?

is there a way to get a website listed in goto without paying, like inktomi with anzwers or goo japan?

GoTo use to show some Inktomi results after the GoTo results on their site. Not sure if they do that anymore.

Looks like Overture (did type goto for a sec there!) does still serve inktomi results after the paid listings.

Not quite sure how to get into inktomi without paying these days.

Anzwers has just turned to google and yahoo regional results.

Goo appears to only be a regional database, so getting in doesn't appear to be a backdoor into the world inktomi database (I get the odd referral from goo itself).

The only other place I can think of to submit would be to hotbot. Again I am unsure that this will actually get you into the main inktomi database.

By paying, the obvious places to submit are Looksmart or paid inclusion with companies like positiontech.

Yes overture/goto still serves results from inktomi to help supplement results, and a modest amount of traffic can be found for free. However I have not had much luck getting free listings into inktomi, though I have noticed additional pages being requested by the inktomi spider. I tried the old canada/anzwers submission, and more recently with hotbot and goo. I have managed to get a few pages in, but it is a very slow process. Funny the extra pages appear in MSN and iwon, but are no where to be found in either hotbot or goo!~ I am not sure how the pages were picked up, and honestly have not submitted any pages in over 2 months!~

I have found that as long as you are in Looksmart or ODP, Ink will find you eventually. I am always willing to wait for them as MSN and Google are the biggies now. No need to submit to Ink. Works for me anyway. :)

Sorry forgot (as Doug points out), the best way to get into inktomi for free is via ODP. :scattered

Yes but ODP can take ALONG time to get in and then INk much longer. Besides, a LS listing helps the site in so many ways that you almost HAVE to be in it in order to succeed with the rest of the engines.
