Although I have only had my ad for about 36 hours when I visit the Google site I have noticed that the sponsored vendor's ads are consistently there yet other ads (like mine) you never see. Has anyone else experienced this? I know that the sponsored ads are extremely expensive but if they monopolize the ads what's the point of adwords for more popular categories? Maybe it's not worth the investment, on my management page it indicates an "avg pos" of 1.2, I don't know if I believe that. Any other opinions out there?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Your ad should show up for the keywords you have bid for, unless your bids are too low. But if it's showing that you come up on avg. at position 1.2 then it's not making sense. Are you in the US and looking at Google US or could it be an international issue?

You may have set your daily budget too low. Google will restrict the number of times an ad is shown to spread the impressions across the 24 hours in a day instead of showing them continuously until the budget is used up.

I went into "edit/view" and decided to upgrade my daily budget. I changed my CPC and then the estimator indicated that I needed to increase my daily budget to $110.00 (previously it was $31.00). I thought I would update it and follow their recommendation. One thing I noticed when I returned later to that same page they updated the daily budget to $180.00!! I left it at $110.00 I was under the impression at $110.00 I would get maximum exposure. I am in the english language and the United States. I can't imagine what is wrong. I emailed them and they said that the ad is posted and remains there until the user leaves the result page. If that's the case I don't know why I can't see my ad.
In order to calculate how many exposures I should have would I take my CPC/daily budget? Thus for example if my CPC is $3.00 and my daily budget is $110.00 wkould my exposure throughout the day be 36 or 37 ?
Perplexed

Maybe you could tell us some of the keywords and we could see if we can see the ad?

Absolutely! I am using only one keyphrase "tiffany lamps". Do I need to have more than one keyphrase? Do you think I should add another ad group for "lamps"? But wouldn't that cost me another $110.00 for another daily budget?
Currently my i"impr" are 349 and my CTR is 4.9% so it seems to be slowly rising.
Thx

Phiar,
The daily budget feature of Google is really just an estimate of what you should pay for maximum exposure.
If your budget is $180 that doesn't mean you will spend that much each day. You could very well just get $50 worth of clicks. The budget is there for you to limit how much you will spend.
If it is too low your add will be shown less. If you set it higher your ad will be shown more but not necessarily reach your daily budget.
It would be a great idea to use multiple keywords!
I used Overture's keyword tool and entered the phrase "tiffany lamps" without quotes and got a huge number of potential keywords.
I then went to my adwords account and entered some of the phrases and you will find that a good number of them are less than the $3 you are paying now.
The Overture tool can be founf here:

The daily budget estimate will fluctuate based upon your CTR. If you have a high CTR, the daily budget estimate will increase to attain maximum exposure. I think $3 per click is pretty high! You might do well either adding a bunch of negative keywords to minimize the possibility of paying for unqualified traffic or, better yet, find different and cheaper terms to reach your target market.

No. Google factors your CTR, CPC & daily budget when estimating the number of times to show your ad.

Thank you all for your input! I have followed your advice and done some more research and also made some much needed changes. Hopefully my ad will attract more visitors.
By the way, how can I have 508 impressions and only 28 clicks? I thought that the impressions are the click throughs but they have their own rate, can someone explain the significance of the number of impressions your ad generates?
Thx

Impressions are how many times your ad showed up when someone was searching.

Somehow, I overlooked that post.
There is a huge difference between:
tiffany lamps
"tiffany lamps"
[tiffany lamps]
Be sure you understand the differences! I would think adding an add for just lamps would cause an ad to show up for an awful lot of search queries that are not targeted to your potential audience.
Are you making money at $3/click? Is the traffic turning into sales for you? If so, then it is easy to justify expanding the ad campagne. Otherwise, I would suggest narrowing down your keyphrase. Ad an extra word or use the brackets or something...

I'll check out this site. I am absolutely not generating any sales at all and I've made several changes. I did add "lamps" and within a short amount of time I had over 1,ooo impressions so, Bernard you were very correct "lamps" was too much. I did some more research and have added 2 more ad groups, 1 is doing a CTR of 20% with only 5 1mpr and 1 click, while my original "tiffany lamps" (now with quotes) has 218 impr with a CTR of 5.5% and only 12 clicks. The 3rd adgroup has nothing going for it at all! I just can't imagine what I'm doing wrong. Maybe one mistake I'm making is that I have not increased my daily budget. I have gone from $31 to $110 and currently it is now $400, but that doesn't seem to increase my exposure. I have yet to see my ad on Google since I set up the account several days ago.

I just did a quick Google search on tiffany lamps and saw your ad in the first position.
Some search terms are just don't have as high a volume as others. Sometimes life interrupts the normal course of events as well (ie. there is a war on and people may not be as interested in buying tiffany lamps as usual).

You also need to make sure that you site will sell the people on exactly what they're looking for, once they get there. It may not be your ad that's a problem, but could be something with your site. (I haven't looked at it...just throwing out some ideas.)

Oh my gosh Bernard, you're kidding, you actually saw my ad??? Well all of those 1.1's and 1.2's for position must be true. I am so excited. Maybe you're right people are not in the mood for buying tiffany lamps right now. The article I just read recommended that you check your ad once per day, I do that (in fact several times per day). I was hoping that I would get more exposure like the ads that I see time and time again whenever I type in tiffany lamps. I guess in my case patience will have to be a virtue huh? One thing I'd like to ask you, for my ad groups I used the same text for all but simply changed the title, should I change the text for each ad?
Jill, I have considered that too! I'm going to take another look at my site and try to view it as a prospective customer would and make any necessary adjustments. You just might have something there!

That's a very attractive site, in my opinion.
"OUR TIFFANY LAMP FEATURES AN ARRAY OF FRUIT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SHADE".
Separated from the photograph and posted here, do you see what's wrong with your copy?
At least, write some history of Tiffany and remind people why they wanted a Tiffany styled lamp in the first place. Why do people want a Tiffany style lamp? Maybe clicking here (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Louis+Comfort+Tiffany) will give you some info.
Describe favrile glass and Tiffany's conflict with what's his name; LaFarge? Sounds like I know about Tiffany glass, I bet. Nah. I looked over some of those sites for 10 minutes - max.
"Now you can own a part Tiffany's fine style and still...
or
"How you can own an original replica (don't worry about it) Tiffany lamp and still...
afford a glass of champaigne
afford to go out to dinner
not blow your budget
live with your self
stay on speaking terms with the accountant in the family
You could write up a condensed history with half the copy on one page and "click here to continue" which would take them to the rest of the story and the other lamp. Nothing too long.
Add the credit card logos to the immediate left of the data field (to the left of the "how many" field). You don't need to move or delete them from your nav bar, just add them to the immediate left of you data field.
I hope this helps. (It will).

Thanks so much for your input Peter! I am currently looking over my web site to see what needs to be tweeked and your suggestions never occurred to me. I have thought my copy may be too bland or vague. I'll work on it.
Thanks again!
