Jasc software has a beta of their PaintShop Pro 8 software available on their site, http://www.jasc.com/.

I use an earlier version in my work to make screen captures for training materials, and I've never really known how to do much of anything else with the product. Version 8 has a one-step photo fix feature, so I downloaded the beta and tried it. It is fabulous! It requires no knowledge whatsoever, just click a single menu item and it fixes up the picture. It worked very well on underexposed images. If you have some so-so photo images that you wish were decent enough to use on your site (or anywhere) try it.

The beta is free and the full price for PaintShop Pro is in the $100 range.

You may want to take a look at PhotoImpact (http://www.cnet.com/software/0-429627-1205-20573788-1.html?tag=rating).

It smokes PSP in almost every category, and for less moola.

Thanks, I will.

FYI, I have tried Adobe Photoshop Elements (I think it is version 1.0), which also has an improve photo function, but it isn't as good as the one in Paint Shop Pro 8, at least not on the images that I tried.

I downloaded the trial of PhotoImpact and tried it out. It clearly has lots of nice features, but I could not get the kind of results that I got from the one-step photo fix in Paint Shop Pro 8. Of course, I have no idea what I'm doing in PhotoImpact, or any of these products, but that's why I was so impressed with Paint Shop Pro 8.

Hello Amica,
I too need a quick fix program for photos.
I use PSP for any graphics I do, and I do intend to buy PSP 8 next week but I have been using
Autofx AutoEye (http://www.autofx.com/detail_pages/aedetail.html) for my quick fixes for a while and it does a good job.
I am looking forward to seeing what PSP 8 can do for photos.

Thanks for telling me. I'll try that one, too.
