anybody ever heard of them?
what are your opinions/experiences?

"DoubleV,
I spoke to a guy today about a new keyword
search engine technology. The way it works
is like this using yahoo as an example:

In the url of your browser just type "yahoo"
not http://ww.yahoo.com or yahoo.com only "yahoo"

Notice how your taken to their site without typing the
whole url.

Using this same technology we can buy the word "blah"
for 1 year for $K and they will guarantee us a minimum of
18,400 unique hits in that time frame.

I will be talking further with this company next week
about how the technology works exactly.

Sounds pretty good to me, SO FAR.

Here's their website.

DoubleV,

Their homepage states (emphasis mine):

... users simply type in your Keyword directly into the upgraded address bar of the browser and this takes them directly to your website.

They have a link at the bottom right corner of the page to "upgrade" your IE browser.

Their keyword search facility only works for people who have downloaded and installed their IE patch. There is no way they can guarantee 18,400 unique hits unless they own 18,400 unique IP addresses and hit you themselves!

Comes up every once in awhile in various forms. Same pitch different company:

igetnet (http://www.ihelpyouservices.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5303)

JSearch (http://www.ihelpyouservices.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5409)

NLN (http://www.ihelpyouservices.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5580)

And if you want a customer's reaction, do a search on "realkeywords" in google (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=mozclient&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&q=realkeywords) and check out the second site in the list, the one below their own pages.

(Yes, the domain names are different, the IP addresses are different, and the WHOIS info is different (though the same town in FL), but the web design looks exactly the same and the link to download the update from "getrealkeywords" takes you to a "realkeywords" page.)

Gotta love the "Where are they located" shell game to.

realkeywords' contact page lists two addresses--one in Florida and another in California.

The homepage of getrealkeywords says they're in Phoenix, AZ... but the contact page lists a second address in the same town in Florida as the other site.

:hit: I just got spammed from another one of these services:

www dot keywords dot bz

They claim over 22 million people have installed their patch in their browsers.

How do we distribute? –

The main way that we distribute our software is by partnering our product with some of the world’s most popular pieces of software. For example, one of our major partners is iMesh, an extremely popular piece of consumer software. Whenever someone installs iMesh, they also install CommonName – but don’t take our word for it, try it! Go to www.imesh.com and download their software.

Those of you who have been following the Internet for some time will know that for a long time we also partnered with KaZaA, one of the most popular pieces of software in the world. We also have other partners, which change over time. For example, Grokster is also a current partner.

Yeah, that sounds like my target audience.
