is there a no BS way to get traffic

hi everyone,
i am new to internet marketing and there is so much out there claiming to be no BS way to get traffic. can someone please tell me if there is truly a dependable way to get traffic without spending money or jumping thru hoops? mods, i'm sorry if this is in wrong place. please delete this if necessary.

You can rule out "posting affiliate links in forums" as a candidate.

I've always found that "offering real value" was a pretty slick method of building traffic. It seems to be working for these forums.
