I see many people judging the way a site may rank using the ixquick's meta engine. www.ixquick.com
I am curious as to why this is? The first results you find are sites that are ranked in PPC engines such as GoTo and FindWhat along with regular search engines. How is that a measure of a site's ranking? Does not include Google as well.
sheesh.

That's the lazy way to check rankings....LOL...
As always, the best way to check ranks is to do it manually.

I agree with you both - Ixquick is not an accurate way to check rankings. However, I think it is the best meta search on the web - I like the concept, I like the fact that you can search by country and frankly, I think it generally brings up the most relevant sites first. And that, after all, is the point.
On the inclusion of PPC engines, I guess they have deals going with Overture, Find What and Espotting and if this helps them stay in business, that's fine with me.

I like both Ixquick and dogpile as meta search engines, though I would not gauge rank according to either. But for the few sources they do include, it might provide a broad view across those engines.

Yes. And although I am ranked #10 and #4 on AltaVista and Google, the result shows the site at #60. Go figure.
