I would love it if some of you in the know could give me a referral for the software that could read your logs and tell you precisley which keywords phrases people are using to find your website.
I'm looking for the software that combines the best quality (interface) with the best price. thanks! Kevin C

Hello Kevin
I get exactly this information from the statistics supplied by my hosting company. i would be surprised if whoever is doing your hosting cant supply something similar.
BTW If you want to get an idea of how often a keyword is searched for, try a subscription with Wordtracker. I dont find the website particularly user friendly, and i am sometimes a little sceptical of the results that i receive, but i do find it a useful indication of trends.

There are MANY of these programs. Do a search to find a ton of them. Here are a couple:

Almost any hosting company (that isn't free) offers a stat package and I haven't seen one yet that didn't show search phrases.
Some do it better than others, but most do show that info in some form.

While I will admit to being an insomniac, it's not quite 7PM here!

Andy:
It's funny you say that about Wordtracker, becasue I signed up for a couple of days a year or so ago, and I found the site very convoluted and difficult to deal with, but everyone on this site, who I respect so much, swears by and loves Wordtracker, so I'm going to give them a shot again as I am now revamping my site, keywords wise. Personally, maybe I'm the only one, but I find Overture's keyword tool to be quite easy and nice to use. Maybe once I get the hand at Wordtracker I'll convert. What to they charge for that keyword service?
I know I get 6 months free of hitlinks because I just got web position, after that it goes to $10 month. Not so bad, but less would be better for such a simple thing.
My isp does not have a free software. They have a log you can access, but they say you need some software to then read the log. He mentioned one called logalizer. I was just hoping someone here would be able to say, "I've tried a bunch of them... and this one is the best"

Wow !!!does nobody have a love life in these forums.
Kevin your word 'convoluted' probably does describe very well the Wordtracker system. What exactly is the overture product, and where can i find it? I think i paid 140 Sterling for a years subscription.
Re your hosting company i would probably change ASAP. I am not an expert, but if they cant provide stats, they are most likely to be deficient in other areas.

Andy:
Go to www.overture.com Then go to: tools, term suggestion tool.
My isp is actually real good. But I'm on the cheaper package, like $7.95 a month or so, so I think on this program, they have the log, but I'd have to get something to make it look nice and readable.

I'm not sure what you all mean. I find wordtracker to be extremely easy to use. All it takes is a little reading on their site to do things. I'm a complete dummy and I figured it out with about one week's worth of doing it. :)
Overture? Ya gotta be kiddin me. I would not trust that piece of shet program of a keyword searcher if you PAID ME to do so. What a worthless piece of crap that is.

So what do your really think about Overture ihelpyou :)
While I do find more value to Wordtracker everyday I am glad that they are not the only game in town, they are not always on the money for lesser searched terms, and if I could only have one then it would be my choice.
However Overture exists so why not use both, you will get farther, even if you dislike Overture as a company they do provide a service that helps marketers connect with consumers. In the future hopefully someone like Google or MSN or Yahoo will open up their numbers, and we will have a more accurate set of data to work with.
