Just submitted my first sites to Joeant using the paid review. Both included within 24 hours. Doesn't look like there is a large directory there yet, but it is a much better model than DMOZ and could catch on with some more advertising.
Man, if they could increase the pagerank of some of their categories they really could be on to something here.

Yep. Them and GoGuides both. oh, Gimpsy as well. Any of those could unseat DMOZ with more time and doing things the right way.
Sorry dmoz, but it's almost getting to the point where it is irritating enough not to submit to dmoz anymore. The wait,.. the down time, etc, etc.....

IMHO, AOL should be ashamed of what has happened over there. They took something that represents all that is good about the internet and turned into a turd. I feel sorry for the volunteers. That's a shame as well!

I believe left to it's own devices the "internet community" would have rallied around it and it wouldn't be in the shape it is now. IMHO, all that is wrong with it is $ related and the fact it seems like there is a vacuum at the top and no decisions are being made. Those who want to make the decisions can't.

If you link back to the specific topics where your sites are listed, won't that help. Most people link back to the main page.
I know Jerry (our programmer) still wants to set up a page where you can download some images to go with the link. You can also put something on your site like our 'Site of the Month' http://www.bantychicken.com/.
