Since we've had all this discussion about copywriters lately, let me ask you something. What are you looking for when you shop for a copywriter?
What qualities?
What results?
What let's you know you've found the right one?

For me, the main thing when looking for a copywriter is reading their copy. I like to look at sites they're written to make sure they are well-written.
I have looked at tons of some copywriter's previous work, and 90% of the time I think their writing actually suck s! It seems that many people call themselves copywriters, but they can't write well at all.
Of course, everyone has different tastes (I guess) and what I think is crappy copy, someone else may think is good copy, and vice-versa.
But that's my first test. If I find someone whose copy I like, then I go to the next step. Since there's only a one in ten chance I'd like the persons copy, there's not too many people out there for me to take the next step with!
Next though, is generally just emailing or talking with the person. Finding out rates, availability, SEO experience, that sort of thing. If the person is responsive, i.e., they get back to me quickly, that's a big plus. Since I'm a procrastinator, I need to work with people who can be fast and who are easily accessible.
That's really about it for me. They don't even have to know how to write for the search engines as I can usually teach that with the first few pages. If they are a good writer to begin with, they can easily learn to write with keyword phrases in mind.
