If this is the real dance then why is it taking so long to these results appear on www. I havent seen any sign of new Pageranks either.

Maybe it's not the real dance. It was awfully soon on the heels of the last one. I never figured it was a dance, but then again, I don't pay much attention it, nor really care very much.

I've been reading that what's actually happening at the moment is the bit we dont normally get to see - where each part of the algorithm is applied one stage at a time.
Who knows for sure - but if this is so, it may well be worth keeping a eye on it as you might gain some insight as to how Google's algorithm works.

If you aren't spamming then you don't have to worry what G does it shows the "value" of your page. "Me thinks these people have far too much time on their hands."

Yeah and of course, hanging around discussion forums is a true sign of how busy your life is

I think that is a good use of my time. I know the G algo. I learned how it works by analyzing SERPs and pages that place well. IMHO, The Dance is BS and those that think it is useful just don't get it!
They are looking for JuJu that in the 9 yrs. I've been doing this I know has absolutely no "value". The crap in the Dance does not even always get reflected in the results. If you wish to try and show me up at least have a clue and "don't get personal" you're not equipped to debate this with me and I do not wish to publicly humiliate anyone. Capiche?

If you choose to ignore the dance (or whatever this is at the moment) that's up to you - it's the condesending attitude some people have to the people that wish to observe the dance that gets up my goat. Each to their own, WMT. Capiche?

Steel City, if you thought my remark was condescending then, a sincere apology is given, that was not my intention. I was making a general comment about everyone doing that and within the context of the quote above it. The other post I apologize for as well, however, I do not take comments directed at me lightly however it was neither helpful or constructive.

I think what Webmaster T is trying to say (in his own style ;) ) is that the dance is basically all about seeing what the lastest spam they're filtering out is. Because really, that's all changes in algorithm are for these days.
Those of us who've been doing this a long time and have our own techniques all worked out, don't care or need to know what the latest filters are, because they won't effect our sites. If our sites do change position one month, it means absolutely nothing. You simply don't touch the site, and the next month it's very often back where it was the month before.
For those who attempt to tweak their sites after each dance, they are being short-sighted, and I daresay "foolish." They will never actually learn anything that way because they will never know if their changes made a difference or if the algorithm just changed again.
I would recommend that anyone who is fairly confident in the SEO skills to try to leave your sites alone regardless of what happens in any given dance, and you will see exactly what I mean.

Right Jill, my real point was that studying the "actual" SERPS is a better use of your time. I sometimes forget that there are those out there who haven't been doing it as long and I can come across as a little "know it all". This is something I will strive to remember in the future.

What about our customers we have, I am always looking forward to the next dance to see what positions I got them, and see my effort pay off.

I don't know about your sites, but my sites seem to often get indexed soon after they are optimized. I don't have to wait for the dance to see how they do. Usually I'm working with already-existing URLs, however.

Fair enough, but link campaigns can take some time to kick in

I am seeing the results on www.google.com now. I guess they will be on Yahoo and AOL soon as well.

I think if you sell something on the Internet and you work really hard at optimizing your site with good content and attaining relevant links, its exciting to watch your site move up in the rankings during the updates. I do think that those who obsess over it have to much time on their hands but I can certainly understand if their site's revenue is feeding their family.
Just my opinion...

I think most of us in here have to feed our families. :) Watching the dance does not mean anything however. You could go up 'during' the dance, but back down after it so why look at it during? Wait until after and you are much better off.
I must say; I do enjoy watching the threads though. I don't understand them and the why behind it, but it is entertainment to me. :D

I don't look at those forums anymore...its pretty spammy in there.
This is the most reliable, accountable forum I know of and it has helped me achieve top rankings the right way.
They are some excellent posts in here and the spammers are dealt with right away.
Nice job to the person who runs this site.
