Hello Everyone
Can some one give some advice?
I keep getting email messages that my hosting company "Feataure Price" is going out of business. The message suggests a few hosting companies to use.
My website is still online and I have contacted the Feature Price site and have not heard from them.
There seems to be many services on Feature Price's site that are "suspended". Though there is statement that goes something like "we are going through some major changes but are NOT going out of business.
It's odd that there are no contact phone numbers on Feature Price's website.
As you can understand I am very cautious in swithing with all the scams out there.
The message I have received is that if I don't switch before Feature Price closes up there could be problems.

Have a look at:

It may explain some of the problems you are having.

Bottom line Terry, even if they are still in business and will remain that way, can you afford to work with a host that will not respond to your requests and have hidden their phone numbers?
You do have to be careful when receiving unsolicited email but if I were in their shoes and heard what you say you've received, I would not only be putting as many full time people on email response as I needed to, my phone number would have turned into a toll-free number and I would have personally written every company that hosts with me.
Just tried their site... 404. Could be a cooincidence but I'd pack up the stationwagon and get out of Dodge.
I've used Host Depot who is not the best value in town but their servers stay up and customer service rocks. Also heard many good things about iPowerweb.

Hi Terry-
You do have a good backup of your site already don't you? Always good to make regular backups!
If you re-read your own post, you can see the warning signs. The writing is on the wall- it's time to move. Find another host and start setting up. Get everything checked and tested before you change over the DNS.
There's no sense waiting for the company to completely close and having your site down while you transfer to a new host.

there a million hosting companies out there, some good, some bad...
why don't you take a look at a forum which specialises in web hosts such as http://www.webhostingtalk.com and see who's who. altrernatively you can do a search there on a host you're thinking of going with before you switch.
if there are complaints about hosting company ABC, you are quite likely to see them there.
i won't mention my hosting company by name, (they are great and suit me very well), only because what suits me may not suit you.

I agree with Loki, there are thousands of web hosts to choose from so don't feel there are no alternatives floating around the place :)

I have been in a similiar position. I agree with all the others..when the response time is infinite, 'get out of Dodge'..
I have used this host for about 2.5 years and have no complaints. When ever I have had a problem, I have been able to call them on the toll free line and it was resolved within minutes. [this is a very big plus for me since I am not tech savy.]
I have a tracking service on my site so I know when the site goes down. It does, but infrequently [less than 2x/ quarter, and the site recovers in less than 45 minutes.].
They have a number of economy plans for shared and seperate servers. I will direct you to the banner I use for the most economical and that will take you to their specials page. From there you can explore all the other options. They have a number of service packages, perhaps one will fit your needs.
[Full disclosure...I get a little something if you sign up through my link...]
Go to this page. The banner is under the note for Hoffman Ink..

I have two webhosts I use.
www.webhostxl.com - I have have had trouble uploading and seeing any of my changes. I am kinda new at this and went in and erased files I probably shouldn't have and they will not respond to my request for help. It has been two weeks without response. I went in the control panel of my site and erase every folder that held my webpages to see if it takes my current site off and It still shows up.
If anyone else uses webhostxl.com let me know how you like it?
I have my auction site hosted at 007hosting. They are good and have responded quickly to my questions/troubles. I would like to know if others have used them.
Like I said I am new at this webhosting stuff any tips would be helpful.
Thank you

Welcome to the forums Hyperauction! :hi:
Never heard of those hosts. There are millions of hosts. Many are re-sellers. Those two sound like re-sellers to me. That's not a big thing if they give you good support.

Would you really take a suggestion from your current hosting company, given all the current facts? Backup your site, and start looking...
