View Full Version : If Gimpsy doesn't like my category

I submitted the site of a non-profit organization that promotes independent and foreign film. They do this mostly through publishing reviews written by their members, but they also sponsor screenings, send out a monthly newsletter, and hold an annual event at which they give out awards.

The closest category I could find within Gimpsy was Watch > Movies, so that's where I submitted it, but I don't think it's a very accurate place for it.

When an editor takes a look at my submission, will they refuse it because it's not a good category, throw it in there because there doesn't seem to be a better place for it, move it to a different category, create a new category for it, or what?

If there are any Gimpsy editors reading this, I may as well say that the site is www.chlotrudis.org, and it's been given the ID # S2efd2b9c00b08d580e1b95b0beb5a245.

Hello!

Good question!

Please see the relevant part in the Gimpsy help file here (http://www.gimpsy.com/gimpsy/doc/faq/faq_suggest_site.php#21). In addition, a detailed answer is below, one thing at a time:

When an editor takes a look at my submission, will they refuse it because it's not a good category,
No. Gimpsy has a different structure which does take some time getting used to. No submission is penalised / declined for being submitted to the wrong category.
throw it in there because there doesn't seem to be a better place for it,
Never. Each category has its acceptence criteria. Most of them are spelled out in the help file available next to the category name. Ignoring for the moment the occasional grey areas, a site either fits into a category - or it doesn't. We have no qualms rejecting sites that do not fit into any category.
A site move it to a different category,
In many occasions - yes.
create a new category for it,
If appropriate - certainly!

The way we look at it is that we get SUGGESTIONS from users. We consider them, and accept / reject as appropriate so that the overall quality and purpose of Gimpsy will be enhanced.

Hope that helps
