It looks like I have the bad word filter set too rigid. :)
***le tag:
If Soft Designs is your most important keyword phrase, then it is fine. The most important should be at the start of the ***le.
Keyword tag:
Again, most important is first, etc.
Do you really need your bus. name as a keyword phrase? It would be best if you put in at the very end of all of your tags.
My preference is for NO commas in the keyword tag. Reason is that when using commas, you are telling the search engine that you are restricting to only that phrase.
With no commas, you allow your site to come up on many combinations of phrases according to the words in the tag.
Description tag:
Again, Soft Designs should be at the end.
Finally:
Avoid upper-case words in all tags. Most searchers use the lower-case form. Most engines are case-insensitive anyway. Right now, only AltaVista seems to be case-sensitive. BUT, if you are ranked well on the lower-case form, you might also be ranked on the upper-case.

Further;
You seem to be targeting very popular keywords. You might want to target phrases not as popular as your terms are targeted by some of the biggest spammers, "tricksters" on the net.
I use www.wordtracker.com to find real good keywords. Even the trial of it is a real eye-opener.

Are my tags correctly set up now at http://www.softdesigns.net?
I haven't had time to view the tag helper (?) page, that's where I'm headed next....

No,
The best way to show you is to go to my site at:
www.freemoneyservices.com
and view my source code. You see that I use NO upper-case in the keyword tag or description tag. Also no commas in the keyword tag.
I strongly recommend you put the words... Soft Designs at the end of your title tag also.

I just checked some of my keywords at www.wordtracker.com and found that I'm using good ones.
Thanks ihelpyou for the link!
Let's have  for the quick response and dedication of ihelpyou

"Good ones" is very general.
Just because a term is real popular means that it has LOTS of competition for it.
Your site needs lots of work in order to get good ranks on those terms.
My suggestion was maybe to find a few terms that were not as popular also.

Welcome AUS-CITY!
Your meta tags pretty good to me. You may want to make sure you are targeting the correct terms. I use www.wordtracker.com for this. They have a free trial you could use to find good terms.
I prefer having the tags set up in this order:
title
description
keywords
robots
just like that with the title tag always first.
You should put your stylesheet tag in an external file also.
Other than that, looks real good.
Thanks for stopping by and continue to ask questions and help others by answering questions. Or, just chat to get to know some other members.

HI WW;
I took a quick look at Wordtracker for your keywords and they all have a good number of searches, but most of them are very popular with lots of competing pages.
As an Example:
"Web Development" has lots of searches (1147) but has the following number of competing pages:
Google 3,520,000
MSN 23,035.553
so you will really have your work cut out for you to rank well on that term.
By comparasion "Macromedia flash" has even more (2413) searches but far less competing pages:
Google 492,000
MNS 319,905
So you might want to look at your choice of keywords carefully.
Feel free to email me if you want to look at this more carefully.

Doug,
Hey man Im confused here. What do you mean when you say no caps, because I see this when I go to www.freemoneyservices.com
<meta name="description" content="Free...........
<meta name="keywords" content="..........Search Engines Optimization......
When you say capitalized are you talking about "FREE",
or are you talking about the tags themselves and not the content within them.

My description tag starts with an Upper case F because it is a description, but there are NO upper case in my keyword tag. Don't know what you are seeing.

hey Mac, your tags look just fine to me except that I would get rid of the comment tag and get rid of that bulletin-text tag.
rmridgew
04-10-2001, 19:18/07:18PM
Thanks Doug,
Ill take the bulletin text tag out, but I tried taking out that comment tag last time and inktomi didnt like it too much. Very noticeable difference.

No way mac,... Inktomi could care less about that tag and neither does any other engine. They ignore it completely.
ihelpyou
04-10-2001, 19:22/07:22PM
Not only that, but that tag has always been used to stuff keywords into. People like me report that kind of thing quickly to the engines.

Thanks Doug,
I love it when I get advice with such conviction. Im gonna do it. You do mean the comment tag right? ie:<!---blahblah
If that is what you mean then it is as good as DONE8)

Yep. That's it.
If you stick around here awhile you will see that I can be very direct and to the point. I am not shy when it comes to my opinions on things. :)

I have some competition at www.fish-charleston-sc.com who uses it How could I report them.
ihelpyou
05-10-2001, 17:02/05:02PM
Unless they really stuffed up the comment tag, I probably would not report them because as I said, that tag is Ignored by the search engines.
In other words, NO gain or Pain from using it. It makes NO difference whatsoever as it is completely Ignored.

I have to say that I am very happy with advice I have recieved her and am doing quite well with google now.
Two Things:
1 will signatures be seen as spam in the future as they pretain to link pop
2 I have tried using words only once in my keywords but i think i would do a little better if i spread out the same word a few times allowing me to keep the same density while adding more minor keywords. Is there a rule of thumb as to how many times you can use the same word and a rule for the total number of words you can use.
thanks for your help,
ihelpyou
03-11-2001, 06:08/06:08AM
hey mac,.. No one knows what might happen in the future. Now, signatures are just fine.
Remember the keyword tag means very little now, and means nothing to Google. You can repeat 2 times or so.
