After fighting for years with spamming of my email address I came across this tool to foil email harvesters. After placing this in my html and changing my email address on my web page, I no longer am on spammers lists. The idea is that this confuses the programs they use to harvest email addresses from webpages. To follow is what is inserted:
<!-- WPOISON WPOISON WPOISON WPOISON WPOISON WPOISON WPOISON WPOISON WPOISON --> <!-- mailto:@@@@@@@ MailTo:@.@.@.@ @.@ .@. .@.com .@..com error@invalid@page@exception@hahahaa!!!mailto:: @nospam mailto:@NOSPAM.com nospam@com.com.com me@nospam.server.nl.com.uk.ca.edu.gov.exe spammer at dot dot com fakeaddress at dot com dot com dot com dot com dot com $?®¶??å?¾ø@hotmail.com &&$@blah.n?t We like it when email harvesters crash -->
However, since doing this I have gone off the charts when searching google using my chosen keywords (blues, band Florida) where I used to be always in the top 5. My question is do any of you think what I added may be misconstrued as something Google does not like or is this just a coincidence?
website is http://www.bigcityband.com

Google is doing some major changes right now. If your site disappeared from the SERPs just within the last couple of weeks, it is most likely related to the new algo implementation. What is the timeline on the changes / SERPs that you are experiencing?

If you'd like a good script to protect your e-mail address from spammers, check out the one here (http://www.stevedawson.com/) labeled PHP Contact Me. This script is *very* easy to configure, and it does a great job of hiding your e-mail address. From what I've seen, it doesn't affect your website ranking either.
