We have all heard by now about the PPI that AltaVista has started using www.infospider.com.

Look at the Looksmart listing they have:

Infospider
Service that allows you to submit a URL to over 1,000 search engines. With Meta Tag Service and free email verification.

I did not know there were 1000 actual search engines??? hmmmm

As much as Alta HATES automated programs, it is hard to believe why they partnered up with one who promotes them.

oh yes, nothing else has changes as you can still submit for free.

The only difference with the paid is that your page will be re-spidered once a week, instead of submitting and then being spidered.

Tooooo much money to worry about it right now. That is expensive.

Hmmmm......

As a part of this service your pages will be updated weekly so that your content is always up to date. There is no need to resubmit pages when you make changes to your site.

This sounds like a good thing.....do you think it would enable you to tweak your tags and content on, say, a weekly, or monthly basis in order to try to get better rankings?

Sure you can Blue, but we can do that now anyway.

For those who change content all the time and who might drop in and out of the index, it might be a good thing for you as they say you will stay in the index for 6 months.

Note; they are only saying you get respidered and will remain in the index. This is not a pay for placement but a pay for indexing only. NO guarantees as to how you will rank, if any rank at all.

Agreed!~ Kind of like Wal-Mart getting nailed for selling foreign goods, and all the while marketing is touting made in the USA.

Sounds very similar to the inktomi positiontech (http://www.positiontech.com) program. Guaranteed indexing, but optimization (for placement) is still your responsibility. It can be worth it for those that like to [i]tweak their way to the top, or for frequent content changes.
