View Full Version : Synchronization of Google Directory and DMOZ

The Google Directory is based on Dmoz. But currently results from DMOZ and Google Directory differ (i.e. descriptions).

Is this due to the changes going on at the moment?
And under normal circumstances after what period of time does Google Directory refresh its cache?

Anyone has experience with this?

I believe that the differences are due to:

1. Google has reverted to an older index to implement their new algo. From what I've read, the older index is prior to the last DMOZ dump.

2. During normal times, Google updates its directory when DMOZ provides the dump/feed. I have no idea what the frequency is supposed to be, but I assume it is monthly or so.
