One of the organisations my company has developed a site for is an organisation assisting businesses to create links with France and Vice Versa.

As a consequence they would like listing in some French search engines and they have already expressed an interest in Wanadoo.fr submission. However, my french isn't great and I could do with some help and tips.

For the main search engines/databases Inktomi, Google, Altavista and Lycos if I submit through the UK will they also appear in the French versions or will I need to submit separately.

Similarly for Yahoo would I need to submit and pay twice.

Any help appreciated

Hello

-Concerning Yahoo, you have to pay for each regional index. Then you will hav eto pay for yahoo.fr. The good news is that it is still one time fee and not annual fee like yahoo.com

-Voila.fr (the SE who powers wanadoo) is kinda big in france so I still recommend to pay if you have a decent budget (though not strategical). Note that the gain in PR will be zero as voila disallow the spidering of its directory.
You can submit for the Voila spider for free here (http://aide.voila.fr/Recherche/?Referencer)

-Inktomi have a global database no problem then. Idem for Altavista (with some filering glitches sometimes though).

-Lycos is powered by espotting and Alltheweb (global) no problem then. Dont pay for inclusion in lycos directory it is not worth it
