Hello everyone!

Gimpsy has been online for just over six months - and shows a phenomenal growth rate ! To illustrate, there are now more than 1,700 registered users and traffic exceeded 650,000 page views / month.

Despite the very different nature of the Gimpsy categorization and search model, we gained the trust and approval of many Site Owners and SEO professionals. All in all, we are very pleased with our achievements so far!

Those among you that have followed us know that we never just rest - we keep innovating and enhancing our site, pushing it as high as we can in the Search Engine league. As always, our way of promotion is to add value to both the Users and the Site Owners. This time - the latter got our attention :)

Site review at Gimpsy is done on a 'First Come - First Serve' basis, which we believe is the fairest way. However, the ever growing number of submission had a predictable effect: The delay in getting a site reviewed has increased all the time, and it now stands at an average of one month. Some Site Owners were quite frustrated by the delay - but there was nothing we could have offered them.

In addition, Gimpsy offers a 'Golden Star' to site owners that are willing to promote Gimpsy on their site. Such 'cross promotion' is suitable for some - but not all. Now we can provide an alternative to BOTH aspects.

As you are aware, suggesting a site to Gimpsy is free, It is both our policy and vision to keep the free option. But, in addition, we designed the 'Gimpsy Promotion' option, to be available ALONGSIDE the 'Free Submit' option. The option currently has the following elements:

It is priced at 25 USD.
The site will be reviewed within 3 ELAPSED days (72 hours).
Accepted sites will be PROMOTED in Gimpsy (given a 'Golden Star') for the duration of 90 days.
Failure to do the review on time will entitle the Site Owner to a FULL refund. Should the site be subsequently accepted, it will be promoted as above regardless.
If a site is DECLINED, there will be a partial refund of the payment (currently 15 USD).

You can see the detailed explanations here. (http://www.gimpsy.com/gimpsy/doc/faq/promo_pkg.php)

As stressed above, the Promotion Option is just that - an OPTION. Site Owners and users may still suggest a site to Gimpsy - for free. The site will be reviewed as soon as possible, but it is unlikely to take place in less than a month. Should a site be accepted, it will get a 'Blue Star' as before, and get a prominent position in its category - for 15 days.

Gimpsy strives to give both users and Site Owners an excellent service. We see the Promotion Option as a step in strengthening our position within the Search Engine marketplace and providing Site Owners with more choice. We hope you like it and will continue to support us!

I personally recommend that if you can afford it, do go ahead and pay for a Gimpsy listing.

Worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the support 123promotion!

Should say though that the current submission rate is $40, not $25 as was originally posted. The times are a changing...

Hi MC,
Is Gimspy used outside the US? I haven't seen a lot of sites listed under the regional categories..
Cheers,
Johann

Webcertain which directory do you mean: goguides.org or gimpsy.com? MC is from Gimpsy.

BTW. GoGuides.org is US based.

Hi Webcertain!

Gimpsy is certainly used outside the US! We can judge it by various ways, but the most reliable for us would be the number of people that have registered as Gimpsy users. The split is about 60% / 40% (USA / rest of the world).

Here are the exact figures:

USA 60.60%
UK 13.20%
Canada 5.72%
Australia 2.50%
India 2.47%
Spain 1.28%
Italy 0.73%
Germany 0.68%
Netherlands 0.68%
France 0.66%
New Zealand 0.60%
Romania 0.54%
South Africa 0.51%
Ireland 0.43%
Israel 0.43%
Singapore 0.40%
Philippines 0.39%
Poland 0.28%
Ukraine 0.25%
Japan 0.20%
Other 7.45%

We are proud to provide a world-wide (and world class...) service!

Cheers!

Thank you for these figures MC, it's great! I hope I'm not being a pain but have you got any figures related to the locations of the sites listed, to compare with registered users?
Thank you,
Johann

Hi Webcertain!

You're not being a pain at all, it's just that Gimpsy is quite unusual in that respect too.

You see, most directories have a 'regional' section where they list sites outside of the US. This corresponds nicely to the American view of the World as being comprised of USA and 'some other countries, or regions' :)

Gimpsy has no notion of 'region' - it only deals with 'coverage'. Coverage is defined as the 'area that the site is providing its service to'. That can be a country (OK - let's assume USA), a region (North America, EU etc.) a city or even a postcode. Obviosuly, many sites are totally geographically independent - which means that they serve THE WORLD!

Now, as a user, if you set your location to a specific place (in the Preferences), you will ONLY get sites that are 'covering' your place!

If you wish to learn a bit more about Gimpsy you can obviously read the Help files available on site, or the interview with your humble servant, published in many places, like here:
