To JoeAnt Monitor:
I would like to submit my site: hawaii-luxury-homes.com to the Real Estate category (I became an editor to do this) however the site was rejected. The editor told me to submit it here: http://www.joeant.com/DIR/cat/4633/Hawaii.
How would I become an editor of a regional area to submit the site? And can you tell me why this site was rejected since it is a real estate site?
Thanks

That's not part of the Regional topic, it is a subtopic of Real Estate.
From your anthill, click on the link on the left side of the page that says "Real Estate". Drill down to Real_Estate > Agents > By_Region > North_America > United_States_Real_Estate_Agents > Hawaii Real Estate Agents. You will see the Add URL link on that page. If you are planning on adding more than one site to this subtopic, you can click on the link on that page in the editor's view that says "Add to Favorites". This will put a link in your profile directly to the subtopic so you don't have to drill down through the topics each time. (The link to your profile is also on the left side of your anthill.)
Without knowing to which subtopic the site was originally submitted, I can't say why it was declined. When you get a message back from a reviewer (approval, edit request, or decline), the reviewer's name is a clickable link which allows you to send a private message to him or her. This way if you have questions about finding an appropriate subtopic or JoeAnt guidelines, you can ask the reviewer directly.
If you have any further problems, feel free to contact me at http://www.joeant.com/hill/profile.php?ant=1381 (you have to be logged in to JoeAnt for that link to work).
You will be able to access the appropriate subtopic for this site but if you do find a site that you believe deserves inclusion and you don't have access to the topic, you may post a request in JoeAnt's internal forum (the link is at the top of your anthill). Include the URL, title, description and list of features and an editor with access to that topic will submit it for you.

I'm building my real estate web site. There are no real estate sites reviewed for my California county. Would I need to become an editor to submit my site when it's ready? It'd seem to be a conflict of interest to review my own site, if so.

There are two ways to get a site listed in JoeAnt; become an editor or pay for a listing, neither of which guarantee a listing. As a submitting editor you will not be reviewing the site. A senior editor will review the submission and will either approve, decline, or send the submission back for editing, depending on which one is appropriate. Any conflict of interest is minimized by the review process.
We encourage Webmasters to join and submit their site(s) and hope they will add a few more while they're at it, but it's not required. It's easy to join and your site will be listed in a short amount of time if it complies with the guidelines.
