Hi all -
I use 123 LogAnalyzer for dissemination of our log files/traffic. I have a question for anyone that might be familiar with either it, or a similar facsimile. Is there a way to track actual IP Address paths? Meaning...how can I configure this software or others to find out exactly where a specific IP Address has gone on our site?
Sorry if it's a dumb question - just curious if there's a way.
Thanks!

I've never used it, but I found a chart on their web site that lists its features. (http://www.123loganalyzer.com/chart.htm) Toward the bottom it indicates that it can do "domain tracking", which is pretty close to what you're asking, but of course you'd first have to resolve a domain name from the IP address in your logs, and that isn't always possible.

Hi qwerty -
Yes I use that function. I can reverse DNS specific IP Addresses...and then see where they come from etc. But what I can't seem to do is figure out a way to track a specific address on the site itself. It may not be able to perform this function, but I just thought if anyone had more experience with it or something similar, they could tell me if it can even be done.
I have a sneaky suspicion that this particular software can't, but I like it nonetheless.

I see. The best app I've found for doing that is NetTracker, but it's terribly expensive. I got to play with a trial version for a couple of months (a month at my office, then a month at home), but there's no way I can actually buy the thing. When I need to track the actions of a particular user, I have to run searches through my raw logs for the IP address.

123 Seems to do a decent portion of what NetTracker offers...but again, I'm not clear on whether or not NetTracker will follow a specific IP Address...or just generalize...ie: 5 visitors exited on page x, etc.
lol I'm not even sure why I care actually..I just thought it would be interesting to know "who's" going where specifically...
Thanks for the input!

Yes, NetTracker does do that. You can drill down to a specific unique visitor and follow everything about them: referrer, page path, time spent. I was amazed to find that even WebTrends can't do that unless you upload some executable that writes cookies.
But if it's not something you absolutely need, $1500 for a license is probably a bit much.

"Probably don't need" is quite an understatement...I always seem to have the champagne taste on coca-cola budget...lol

Instead of gettting NetTracker you could get a custom script written in php to track everything that NetTrends can track, and more.
