Hello

This may have been posted and answered already but is the only way to submit a site to Yahoo through Yahoo express?

Thanks

For commercial sites to Yahoo US, Biz Ex is the way to get in. Yahoo US does offer a free submit for non-commercial sites.

I have had luck getting commercial UK sites listed in YAhoo UK for free, waiting about 6-8 weeks...

don't know about the other Yahoo's...AU, CA, etc...

I finally found the free submit section. Do you know if once you submit via the Business Express and then later on make changes and need to re-submit, if they charge you $299 all over again?

Navarone Basically, you can't make changes later. You definitely can't for the fee, at least not at this time. You can submit a free change request, but those tend to go into Yahoo's delete folder or something!

This is why it is crucial not to submit to Yahoo unless you absolutely know what you're doing and your focus of your Web site is all set. You're basically stuck with the listing you have once you get it. So BE CAREFUL!

Thanks WebWiz

It it just me or are all search engines leaning towards submission fees?

They do need to make money somehow! LookSmart and Yahoo (directories not search engines) do charge submission fees. The Open Directory aka ODP/DMOZ, is only important directory which doesn't charge a fee.

Search engines don't actually charge "submission fees," but some of them are charging "pay for inclusion" fees. These are not mandatory, but can often speed up your entry into to their database, and ensure that your site gets respidered in a timely manner. Inktomi, which powers HotBot and many other search engines, has such a paid program. AltaVista also has a similar program.

I wrote an article on Pay for Placement awhile back. You can read it here. (http://www.rankwrite.com/payforplacement.htm)
